Unfortunately, for safety reasons due to low water flow, we are cancelling the Wednesday paddle from Livermore Falls to Twin Bridges. Please join us Thursday evening at Otis Mill in Jay for an after hours out and back paddle followed by libation, light munchies and an opportunity to find out more about the land preservation work of the Androscoggin Land Trust.

Becky Secrest

Though longer than most of our legs, this idyllic paddle through West Central Maine farmlands is interrupted by two class two rips. Experienced paddlers only, please.

Trip leaders: Perry Risley and Ken Gallant

Livermore Falls to Twin Bridges (Turner)

Put in: Beneath Livermore Falls Dam off Foundry Road in Livermore Falls.  Small dirt parking lot.  N44°28.850' W070°12.050'

Take out: Twin Bridges (Googin’s Island) in Turner.  A paved lot on the island.  Take out on river left side of the island. N44°20.516' W070°11.261'

Total paddling distance: 11.2 miles

Shuttling directions: Turn right out of the parking lot.  After .3 miles, make a slight right onto Route 133.  After 5.1 miles, turn right onto Route 106/County Road.  After 4.3 miles, turn right onto Route 219.  After 2.1 miles, cross the first of the Twin Bridges and turn left into a parking lot on Googin’s Island.

A long paddle.  The river is distant from the road so it is very quiet.  A few stretches of rapids up to class II+.  The first stretch is known as the Tolla Walla rapids.
