    Come join us for a leisurely afternoon/early evening paddle from the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge upriver and back to explore loon sightings, nesting areas and wildlife along the river. 

    Lots of opportunities for wildlife and bird sightings - bring your binoculars! 

    Meet at the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters on Route 16 (Dam Road) north of Errol at 3:00 PM.

    Presentation If available the loon biologist at Umbagog Wildlife Refuge will talk about loons, nesting loons and other work the refuge does along the upper Magalloway and Androscoggin River. Bring your binoculars for possible loon, osprey, eagle and other wildlife sitings.

    With great mountain views & wildlife this section is considered to be one of the most beautiful paddles of the Source to Sea. Fast and shallow. This year we are offering an extended paddle for those who would like a longer paddle. You may choose to continue from Gilead to Newt's Landing in West Bethel. 
    Depending on water levels there may be the opportunity for some easy quickwater.
    Distance: approximately 9 miles to Gilead and if you choose to continue to Newt's Landing you will extend the trip to a total of approximately 16 miles.

    All employees of the Verso Androscoggin Mill and Eagle Creek are encouraged to participate. Water conditions permitting, we may get to paddle around Steven's Island. Eight mile paddle about 3 hours. This is a beautiful paddle down river with views of boom piers used to funnel logs down the river to various paper or logging mills. Note that the put in is on Canton Road in Dixfield, ME and is owned by Eagle Creek. The take out is at the IFW boat launch on Dorey Road off Rt. 140 N (left off Canton Point Road at the T junction.

    Beautiful, rural paddling from Leeds to Turner.  Ends at the gateway to Androscoggin Riverlands State Park. A great section for bird sightings. Bring a lunch to enjoy at the take out in Turner. 

    Meet at 8:30 am on Googin's Island (between the Twin Bridges) on Route 219 in Leeds.

     Put in: Googin’s Island between the Twin Bridges on Route 219.  A path leads to the downstream tip of the island, avoiding some rapids underneath one of the bridges.  A good sized paved parking lot.  N44°20.516' W070°11.261'

    N44°20T  Take out: The Leeds side of Center Bridge has a boat launch maintained by Brookfield with many      plenty of parking spaces. N44°15.436' W070°10.963'

    Total paddling distance: ~10 miles

    Shuttling directions: Turn left out of the parking lot.  After going over the bridge, stay left on Route 219. After 4.3 miles, turn left on Route 117/North Parish Road.  After 2.1 miles, turn left on Center Bridge Road.  The boat launch is on the Leeds side of the bridge.

    Notes:  A quick, easy paddle. Lots of places to explore.  We plan to arrive at the takeout sometime around 1:00 PM so bring your lunch.

    An easy and nice 7 mile paddle bordering one of Maine's newest state parks, the Androscoggin Riverlands. There is an opportunity to land on the Riverlands State Park to view the old foundations  Continuing  on to Cherry Pond we will stop at Judy's Island for lunch so bring a bag lunch. After lunch we can explore around an island water level obliging. Judy Marden will guide through some interesting river areas. 

    Meet at 8:30 am at Center Bridge (on Center Bridge Road) in Turner. Take out will be at Cherry Pond.

    From US Rte 1 Take Cook's Corner Exit.  Stay in the far left lane.  Turn left onto Bath Rd stay in the left lane.  At the second traffic signal turn left onto Old Bath Road.  About 2 miles down the road you will come to Bay Bridge Estates Turn left into Bay Bridge Estates on Driscoll Rd.  You will come to a stop sign take a left onto Bay Bridge Rd.  Follow to the end into gravel parking lot.  There is plenty of parking.

    For those of you who might be GPS challenged, I just put Driscoll Street, Brunswick Maine in my phone map program and had no trouble finding the site.

    River Event: End of S2S will be celebrated at Antigoni's in  Cooks Corner, Brunswick.

      
    Come join us for the fun paddle, and Pizza at Antigoni's paid for by ARWC. Cash bar for beer and wine.

    Put in time is 08:30 AM and party will be after the paddle.

    Always a fun time and a great way to meet and talk river talk with the folks from the Androscoggin Land Trust. Munchies provided at Gritty's after the paddle compliments of ALT, but opportunities nearby to get a meal if you need one before or after you paddle.

    The Androscoggin Land Trust is a non-profit membership-supported organization dedicated to protecting through land conservation and stewardship, the important natural areas, traditional landscapes, and outdoor experience in the Androscoggin River watershed.

    The land trust currently conserves approximately 4,850 acres of land, including over ten miles of riverfront along the Androscoggin River.  We also work with municipalities to help steward trails and other recreation sites throughout our service area.

    Look for more information on this Adventure Race as we navigate through COVID-19. Come join us for a fun Adventure Race in Milan, NH at the Mahoosuc Inn. Put a team together or enter as an individual. The Fun Race consists of a paddle from Boffinger to Nansen Wayside; a bike ride up to the Milan State Park and a run back to the Mahoosuc Inn. The purpose of the Adventure Race is to raise funds for the ARWC.

    You can sign up on line and create a fundraiser page to raise money for your team or you individually. All funds go to the ARWC programs and projects and the person or team raising the most money will be the winner of the Adventure Race.
